My Night At Tonic!
I’m not a fan of bars so much – the music is usually too loud, the staff are rude and it’s a general air of arrogance that goes along with the scene – so when I was given an opportunity to play at Tonic Nighclub in Vancouver – I was apprehensive to say the least.
But after last night I can definitely say that Tonic is not the typical nightclub. First of all the sound guy had a sense of humour never before seen in my 10 years of performing live. Thank you Mickey – if you are out there and you happen to read my blog! The staff were all friendly, helpful and completely not what the norm in my experience of clubbing has been! So for those people that stayed in town for the long weekend to take in Jessica Beach, Garrett Kato and myself last night, it just topped off the night to be able to perform to such a welcoming crowd – sing-a-longs, clap-a-longs and random cheering made the night extremely special as I played never before heard songs that I’ve been writing over the past few months!!
I can’t wait for my second show in a week at Waves Coffee on Howe St this coming Friday – an intimate show with my drummer on a hand drum – again – showing off new songs and just generally loving people!
I’m off to LA on the 16th and shall be in touch soon!!

Speeding, Animals, and beginning to appreciate taking my time…
I’ve struggled with patience my whole life but didn’t really realize it til this year as I finally got tired of paying for traffic tickets – I’ve been averaging one to two a year for nearly 17 years now – which begins to add up after awhile! Not to mention I’ve been rear-ended, T-boned, I’ve rearended someone and I’ve hit a bird, raccoon, rabbit and recently a skunk…for someone that speeds – I’m a slow learner! Though I’m just appreciating taking my time now, I think I really started to ease up when I finished driving 15,000 km last year on tour in 3 months! I’m just finishing up the video blogs now on youtube – so be sure to check them out!
I’m currently working on the second part of my trip to Philadelphia and onto New Jersey and New York! I’ve done blogs so far on BC, AB, SK, MB, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois (Chicago Specifically) Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania! Highlights that you’ll see in the videos will be the Rockies, the partying in Saskatoon til the sunrise and having the cops show up, seeing where Prince first played in Minneapolis, tasting all the different types of cheeses in Wisconsin, the 4th of July in Chicago and some really crazy people there, cheap beer in Ohio and the Amish in Pennsylvania still riding horse and buggy! Enjoy as I finish up the rest of the blogs in the coming weeks!

Brand New Video – I Want to Fall
Hey check out the new vid for I Want to Fall directed by Aaron Veale.
2010 Winter Olypmics
Yesterday I just found out that I will be performing in the Olympic Village in Vancouver specifically for the athletes in February and I can’t stop dreaming about it and envisioning performing for our countries best!
I certainly don’t assume that I can inspire professionals that have been aspiring to shine and make their country proud for their whole life – lets face it – if they need inspiring at this stage they need more help than I can provide, but I do hope to help them enjoy their once-in-a-lifetime olympic experience just that little bit more. If I can get a chuckle – a bobbing head – even a moment where they are kind of pumped up – I will feel satisfied in knowing that I brought my best to them! I kind of owe them that!! Its a special privalege that I hold – to be able to even be involved in the Olympics – and having said what I just said – Magic Johnson did say at Michael Jacksons funeral that Jackson inspired Johnson to be a better basketball player. If one moment from my show brings anything to the athletes to help them be better – I will feel like I’m wearing their winning results with them!
I will be working on a song for the athletes from now – I hope I finish it in time to perform it for them – it has to be perfect and rise to the level that they are at – this is the moment that they’ve been waiting for their whole lives and I want to make it as special as I can! Being an athlete myself (track and field, football, hockey and board sports) I know the feeling of being a champion – and there’s nothing like it! Go Canada – I can’t wait to cheer you on in song!

New Music Vids, Interviews, Radio and more…
After touring North America for 2 months this summer and receiving airplay in Toronto and southern Ontario, southern Alberta, Vancouver Island and Northwest Territories for my single ‘Hurts So Hard’, I’ve finally broken the Vancouver barrier with my second single ‘This Is The Soundtrack’ which is now being played on Shore 104.1 FM! Listen online anywhere in the world at www.shore104.com
This is exciting as I’m in the midst of shooting new music videos for ‘This Is The Soundtrack’ and ‘I Want To Fall’ – so the releases of these to my youtube channel (youtube.com/davidblairmusic) should be done by Christmas!
Finally – but certainly not least – this week I was also featured in the Georgia Straight – a Vancouver city paper with a circulation of 750,000 – check out the great article here!
