“I find David's songs compelling. They are full of strong intelligent lyrics creating wonderful images and heartfelt moods, all driven by catchy musical hooks with simple but very good arrangements. I am a believer that no one delivers a song quite like the writer and David is singing proof of that." - Dale Russell, The Guess Who “With his ultra-smooth voice and compelling
emotion, Blair’s take on breezy 1970’s
California pop-rock is sure to leave first-time
listeners more than a little wowed.” David Blair’s career can be summed up thusfar with a string of awards and accolades and the future will only bring more. He found his first break after being chosen as a finalist for the Demo Listen Contest put on by Vancouver radio station, 99.3 The Fox. The result of which saw three of David’s songs placed on a compilation album, local radio airplay and opening slots for Nickelback as well as The Barstool Prophets. David is a multi-instrumentalist and his classical training in piano gives David’s songs rich musical layers. He joined his first band at the age of 17 and since then, he has played in several bands, but opted to go out on his own, releasing his solo EP “Songs of Love and Introspection” in 2006, which won several songwriting awards, and not one but three honourable mentions from Billboard’s World Songwriting Competition. David showcased his music at several music festivals around the world and toured widely across North America on “Songs of Love...” and his second LP “Hard to Control” (2007) playing rooms across Canada and from New York to LA in venues such as the Viper Room and the House of Blues in Hollywood. In late 2008, “Hard to Control” picked up the ‘Best Contemporary Album’ award and received runner up for the ‘Best Adult Contemporary Male Artist’ for the Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards. David’s latest album “Things Left Unsaid” was soft-released to digital in early 2009, and officially released nationwide in June, 2009. The first single ‘Hurts So Hard’ was added on multiple radio stations across Canada and was supported by a music video directed by Aaron Veale (Digital Interference). Current single ‘This Is The Soundtrack’ has been added to stations in Vancouver and will be accompanied by a video and tour in early 2010. “Canadian singer-songwriter David Blair holds nothing back….Endearing and affecting, [Things Left Unsaid] provides listeners with an unforgettable soundtrack for any occasion.” - Performing Songwriter Mar/Apr 2009 * Honourable mention in the Billboard World Songwriting Competition 2009 * Junofest WestJet Street Party 2009 Click here for more of David's Show History |
